TÍTULO: "2D conformal bootstrap: new solutions in conformal invariant quantum field theories"
EXPOSITOR: Raoul SantachiaraLaboratoire de Physique Theorique et Modeles Statistiques Universidad de Paris-Sud, Orsay, Francia
Resumen: A two-dimensional system enjoys conformal symmetry when the invariance under rescaling and rotations is enhanced to invariance under any conformal (i.e. analytic and invertible) mapping. Two-dimensional quantum field theories invariant under conformal symmetry (CFTs) have been successfully employed in diverse areas of physics and mathematics for almost thirty years. However, we will show that the study of the critical statistical models suggest the existence of CFT solutions which have not been studied so far. Our method to search for these new CFT solutions is based on the bootstrap approach which aims to solve t he infinite set of equations imposed by conformal invariance. We will review this approach and we will argue that, for any value of the conformal anomaly c (the so called central charge), there exists a consistent CFT which is diagonal and with a continuous spectrum. In particular we solved the problem of the c less-than-one barrier.
Our claims are backed by numerical tests of crossing symmetry.
Finally, we will discuss the application of this theory in the study of Q-states Potts model.
